Nurturing Curiosity in Every Classroom
Tuesday July 22, 2025 8:30am - 9:25am CDT
No two learners are exactly alike, which is why it’s essential that educators provide opportunities for engagement through curiosity, which is a natural differentiator. While we want our students to THINK outside the box, as educators we must learn to INNOVATE inside the box that is our classroom by nurturing curiosity. In this session we will explore how, with just a few tweaks and the right digital learning tools such as Discovery Education, educators can provide the essential environment for students to wonder, learn, and share.

Building a Tiered Framework: Supporting Student Behavioral and Mental Health with Strategic Resource Mapping
Tuesday July 22, 2025 9:32am - 10:27am CDT
Brandy Samuell will lead participating schools and districts through a comprehensive resource assessment using foundational principles from the National Center for School Mental Health at the University of Maryland.

  • WHY are we here?
    • To help the students of your districts achieve their potential.
    • To support the educators who are critical to unlocking that potential in the work they do every day.

  • Our OBJECTIVE:
    • To help each of you walk away with THREE tangible outcomes:
      • ONE. A better understanding of where your district's tiered supports for student behavioral and mental health stand today.
      • TWO. A better understanding of how to improve your current systems of support, the gaps for your district to address, and sustainable strategies to improve support for your teachers and students.
      • THREE. And perhaps the most important. A plan of action that we are confident will help you:
        • Improve your school's climate
        • Improve academic outcomes
        • Improve staff retention

Building a Tiered Framework: Supporting Student Behavioral and Mental Health with Strategic Resource Mapping
Tuesday July 22, 2025 1:00pm - 1:55pm CDT
Brandy Samuell will lead participating schools and districts through a comprehensive resource assessment using foundational principles from the National Center for School Mental Health at the University of Maryland.

This collaborative process will empower schools/districts to clearly understand their existing behavioral and mental health resources, identify critical gaps, and develop a strategic plan for implementing a robust, tiered behavioral health framework.

By carefully mapping resources and developing a strategic plan, the school/district will be well-positioned to implement a tiered behavioral health framework that effectively supports the mental well-being of all students.
Resource Mapping:
  • Purpose: The resource mapping process aims to comprehensively identify the current behavioral and mental health resources available within the school/district.

  • Needs Identification: Through a detailed analysis, the assessment will highlight the specific mental health needs of the student population and evaluate how effectively current services address these needs.

  • Gap Analysis: This data will reveal discrepancies between existing conditions and desired outcomes, helping to identify areas where additional supports are necessary to meet pressing mental health needs.
Strategic Planning:
  • Creation of Action Plan / Strategic Plan: Based on the findings from the resource map, a strategic plan will be developed to guide the school/district in implementing a tiered behavioral health framework.
This framework will prioritize and outline specific actions to enhance behavioral and mental health programming, ensuring that interventions and supports are effectively tiered according to student needs.
  • Framework Implementation: The strategic plan will guide the implementation of a tiered behavioral health framework, which will structure supports across three levels:
