Dive-In with STEMscopes!
Tuesday July 22, 2025 8:30am - 9:25am CDT
Engineers solve problems by using a systematic process called the Engineering Design Process, which includes identifying the problem, identifying the constraints and criteria, generating ideas, and testing possible solutions. With a growing demand that scholars be prepared for STEM-focused careers, teachers have an increased responsibility to incorporate engineering into their classroom—often a difficult task. In this session, experienced STEM coaches will take participants on an engineering journey! Hands-on learning will be the focus and will include structures and strategies that teachers can implement in their classroom the very next day. Engaging and useful formative assessments will be used to check for understanding to be sure that no participant is left behind.

Nurturing Curiosity in Every Classroom
Tuesday July 22, 2025 8:30am - 9:25am CDT
No two learners are exactly alike, which is why it’s essential that educators provide opportunities for engagement through curiosity, which is a natural differentiator. While we want our students to THINK outside the box, as educators we must learn to INNOVATE inside the box that is our classroom by nurturing curiosity. In this session we will explore how, with just a few tweaks and the right digital learning tools such as Discovery Education, educators can provide the essential environment for students to wonder, learn, and share.

Put It Back: Decarbonizing Industry with Carbon Capture and Storage
Wednesday July 23, 2025 10:34am - 11:30am CDT
Teachers will explore terminology, concepts and real-world examples to better understand how scientists and engineers provide solutions to society’s sustainability concerns, with a focus on addressing greenhouse gas emissions by storing ‘captured’ carbon dioxide in the subsurface. The session will include hands-on activities that pertain to the challenge of reducing global emissions while providing energy to a global society. Participants will receive free resources that can be integrated into existing lessons for their courses. The session provides insight into science and engineering topics that can enhance and expand future career opportunities for students. All resources are correlated to the 24-25 TEKS and AP Environmental Science standards.
