About me
Maria Mata began her educational career in 2004 with Midland Independent School District, where she taught Elementary Bilingual and Dual Language for six years. She then served as a District Bilingual Coach for two years. During her time at MISD, she actively participated in the districtwide Literacy Collaborative, Reading Academies, and multiple bilingual training initiatives, which deepened her expertise in Language Arts and bilingual education.In 2012, Maria joined Region 18 Education Service Center as an ELAR Educational Consultant. She earned her Master’s degree in Teacher Leadership in 2015 and obtained her Principal Certification in 2017. Currently, she serves as a Bilingual/ESL/Title III Consultant at Region 18 ESC. Maria is passionate about empowering teachers and families to support the success of emergent bilingual students.
